The Hall Walk

The circular Hall Walk in Fowey is a captivating coastal walk that offers a delightful blend of natural beauty, history, and scenic vistas. Start from Bodinnick ferry on the opposite side of the river to Fowey, and end in historic Fowey town itself. This well-loved trail takes you on a journey through lush woodlands, along the tranquil banks of the River Fowey, and offers mesmerizing views of the picturesque estuary and the charming town of Fowey itself.

As you set off, you'll find yourself immersed in a landscape rich in maritime history, passing by historic cottages and buildings, before the path winds through ancient woodlands, carpeted with bluebells in spring.

The views on this walk are a highlight, and as you climb, you'll be rewarded with panoramic vistas of the River Fowey, with a backdrop of rolling green hills beyond. The walk takes you to the secluded ruins of St. Catherine's Castle, a 16th-century artillery fort, where you can pause to soak in the history and admire the strategic positioning of this coastal defence structure.

The route returns to Fowey via Pont Pill, a tranquil tidal creek that showcases the serene beauty of Cornwall's estuarine environment. The trail is well-marked and full details can be found on the National Trust website.
