Castle Drogo is where dramatic architecture meets innovative family home. A 20th century castle overlooking the Teign Gorge. Perched on the edge of Dartmoor, National Trust managed Castle Drogo takes the visitor on a journey back in time to an era of grandeur and architectural marvels.


This imposing granite castle it testament to the Edwardian Arts and Crafts movement. Designed by renowned architect Sir Edwin Lutyens and completed in the early 20th century, Castle Drogo boasts stunning panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and Teign Gorge. The beautifully landscaped gardens come alive in spring and summer, and the visit offers a glimpse at a bygone era.


Hydroelectric power produced using the force of the Teign Gorge was introduced at Castle Drogo in 1927. Visitors can discover more about this greener energy source at the castle and how it came to be built here and why the machinery has now been restored.
