Watergate Bay

Watergate is the most spectacular beach on this section of the coast path, boasting over two miles of golden sands, backed by caves and craggy cliffs.  Whilst not the most common overnight stop on route to St Ives, for those who want to treat themselves, a stop here gives you the opportunity of staying in an iconic location above one of the best loved beaches in Cornwall.

Accommodation is at the Watergate Bay Hotel featuring an amazing indoor 25-metre infinity pool and take time out for a spa treatment.  Eat at the excellent Zacry's Restaurant overlooking the beach, after which you can take a twilight wander on the sands before you retire to bed.

Just watching the kite surfers and other extreme sport junkies riding waves that have gathered momentum for thousands of miles is an exhilarating experience in itself. For those who want to join them, the Wavehunters here can organise tuition and equipment so there is no need to sit on the side-lines, and where better to grab the opportunity of catching a wave than in one of the world’s top surfing destinations.

Watergate Bay can be built into your Padstow to St Ives itinerary, and whilst not a cheap option it makes for a special night or rest day with some of the best activities, dining and accommodation in Cornwall.  Please let us know and we can price this into your itinerary.
