Overview

Walk Summary -
Tranquil Backwater creeks and tidal causeways lead the walker out of the Cleddau Estuary to reach the Atlantic Ocean at dramatic St Anne's Head. Wild coastal headlands and offshore islands contrast with stretches of long golden sands and deep fjord like inlets all the way to the holy city of St Davids. Overnight stops exclusively in small coastal hamlets and hidden fishing villages.

Highlights - Pembrokeshire Coastal Path West Section

- Making two tidal river crossings using planks and stepping stones at Sandy Haven Pill and The Gann
- Witnessing the full ravages of the West Atlantic Coastline as you pass St Anne's Head lighthouse.
- Locating the rock Chimneys and other twisted cliff formations on the Pembrokeshire Coast Paths most magical beach at Marloes.
- Taking a tiny ferry to reach the Nature Reserve at Skomer Island to see the burrowing Manx Shearwaters and Puffins.
- Roaming along the Two Miles of immaculate golden sands at Newgale in St Brides Bay.
- Enjoying the views over the bobbing boats and wooded slopes of the snake like Fjord at Solva.
- Paying your respects at the birthplace of St David in St Non's Bay with its ruined chapel, Shrine and Holy Well.
- Looking for passing porpoise and dolphin passing through The Bitches the ferocious channel off Ramsey Island.
- Ending the Pilgrimage at the Spiritual Home of the Welsh in St Davids City at the door of it's iconic Cathedral, arriving as it should be done.. on foot.
- Taking a rest day at St Davids and a ferry ride over "The Bitches" to walk on the uninhabited wildlife reserve at Ramsey Island
