Overview

The Meirionnydd Coast Path offers a gentler introduction to the Wales Coast Path than the more rugged Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire sections. Walk through peaceful coastal plains, salt marshes, sweeping sand dunes and long sandy beaches, with magnificent views of Eryri (Snowdonia) providing a dramatic backdrop throughout. While there are some inland climbs, these are mainly on well-maintained paths and forest tracks, with less exposed cliff-top walking than further south.

Designed to suit a wide range of walkers, the route offers steady daily mileages, while those looking for more of a challenge can easily add mountain days to explore the surrounding peaks.

Excellent public transport links make travelling to and from the route straightforward, and October brings cooler temperatures, quieter trails and beautiful autumn scenery, creating ideal walking conditions.

Once you've completed this section, you can continue south through Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire, building towards walking the entire Welsh coastline.
